Title: 'God hates sin, being misrepresented by people'
After reading the front page article by Mr. Carter, I realize
that we Christians fail to tell others about the God we
He is the God of creation, creator of all that exists. He
created people to love Him and to love each other. God is
love. We love because God loves us. God created us to
love and wants an intimate relationship with each of us.
Sin is a word we use to define anything less than
meeting God's standards. Something is sin not because I say it is, or a preacher says it is, or because society says it is, but because God says it is a sin.
The standard of behavior should be God's standard, not ours. Our sin has separated us from that intimate fellowship with God. Since we all [have sinned] ... and the result of sin is separation from God, then we all have lost that fellowship with God that He desires.
God's perfect standard demanded payment for our sins and Jesus' death on the cross provided that payment. Because of that payment, our sin can be forgiven and that intimate relationship with God can exist in part now, and fully when we die and go to be with Him. That is God's desire for all; to restore intimate fellowship with Him through the death of Jesus.
[God] has limited His power by His creation. He cannot restore this relationship with us against our will, regardless of how much He wants it.
Because God is love He cannot hate people -- no matter how much a person rejects God and sins against His standards. ... God hates the sin that separates people from Him.
I also believe that God hates being misrepresented by people!! God loves all people and wants all people to be saved from the sin that separates us from Him. "Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness. Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble.
"But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness; he does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him" -- (I John 1:9-11 NIV).
