'Family
Harvest
Church'

“We believe the Kingdom of
God is alive and well, and ready
to defeat the darkness of the
enemy with the penetrating light
of the glorious Gospel of Jesus
Christ,” said Pastor Chad
Carter of Family Harvest
Church in Salem, Indiana.

Family Harvest Church was
birthed in July of 2006 with the
vision God had given to Pastor
Chad & Sarah Carter and a
dedicated group of believers in
the Salem area.  Pastor Carter
and his family moved to Salem
from Columbus, Ohio, where
they served in leadership at the
12,000-member World Harvest
Church with renowned pastor
and author, Rod Parsley.

“I cannot express how honored
and humbled I am to have
served such a man of God.  I
am thankful to have such a
man to look to as a spiritual
father in the faith.”  Pastor
Carter, who was ordained by Rod Parsley, attributes his passion for the lost and his zeal for ministry to the training and impartation he received while serving in leadership at World Harvest.  “I’m forever grateful for my experiences there, and wouldn’t trade it for the world.”

Pastor Carter wasted no time implementing the type of ministry he was accustomed to, and quickly began making waves in Washington County.  In November, he made front page news for standing in defense of the love and forgiveness of God against some who misrepresented that biblical truth.  As a result, Family Harvest received picketers on a Sunday morning who protested against Pastor Carter.

“I count it an honor to be protested against for the truth of the Gospel of Christ,” said Pastor Carter.  “In the Book of Acts, the more the Church was persecuted, the more they prospered and grew.  We are not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, and will boldly proclaim it in the power of the Holy Spirit.  To God be the glory that we have been counted worthy to be persecuted because we believe that Jesus loves all sinners and came to save them from their sin!”

“Our message is right, because our message is the truth of God’s Word,” Pastor Carter continued.  “When you stand on the Word of God, you are standing on an unshakable foundation and will not be easily blown by the wind of adversity.  It has simply brought validity and relevance to our message of the grace and forgiveness of a loving God.”

Family Harvest Church is an independent Pentecostal/Charismatic church that embraces whole-heartedly the tenants of their Pentecostal faith.  Pastor Carter is a fiery preacher, and services are usually marked with shouts of “amen” and “hallelujah.”  Outbursts of joy are not forbidden, and are, in fact, encouraged by the Pastor.  If he doesn’t hear enough amen’s, you can be sure the congregation will be prompted to give out a shout before too long.

FHC enjoys vibrant, upbeat praise and worship.  Pastor Carter describes FHC’s joy in worship by saying, “if you can’t enjoy church, what’s the point in going?  You can stay home and be bored!  Your worship should reflect your relationship and intimacy with Christ.  If He’s alive on the inside of us, it ought to show!  We believe in establishing an atmosphere in which worshippers may know God intimately, recognize His voice and calling in their lives, and learn to move in obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit.”

The desire for enjoyable and passionate worship is demonstrated even in how FHC incorporates performances by their Youth Choir.  During a recent special event, the FHC Youth Choir employed fog machines and flashing lights in their praise and worship songs.

In all FHC does, the ultimate goal is to reach souls and be a blessing to others.  Pastor Carter said, “We embrace the Great Commission of Mark 16:15, and take it as a very serious matter of our faith in God.  We understand that our command is to take the Gospel to the lost and hurting, and bring the Lamb that was slain the reward of His suffering.”

In further describing his vision, Pastor Carter said, “I believe we are called to communicate the Gospel of Jesus Christ to everyone we are given opportunity to influence, helping them to realize their greatest potential in Christ - teaching them to be victorious and prosperous in spirit, soul, and body through a continually maturing faith in Christ and by the power of the Holy Spirit at work within them.”

He continued, “we are to be the hands and feet of the Body of Christ by serving the needs of our generation and carrying the message of salvation, hope, healing and deliverance through Jesus Christ.”

In that effort, Family Harvest Church is nearing completion of a Food Bank and Community Clothing Center that will help to meet the needs in our community.  It is the hope that such an endeavor will minister to people and demonstrate the love of Christ.  “That,” says Pastor Carter, “is why we do it all.  We do it all in His name.  We teach and preach, and love and give, all because Jesus loves their soul and desires they be reconciled to the Father.”

In attempts to further the Gospel of Christ and ministry to the public, Family Harvest Church is now broadcasting a program on Salem’s WHAN Channel 17 (Mondays at 7:30am) and WSLM Radio 97.9fm and 1220am (Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30am).

“We are called to bridge the gap between God and man, exposing the darkness of man's sinful path and separation from God, and pointing the way to the remedy… the redemptive work of Calvary's cross.  If we fail in that regard, we have failed in everything,” said Pastor Carter.

Concerning the purpose for FHC, Pastor Carter said, “It’s our desire to be a point of harvest, a gathering place, for families and individuals of all walks of life, through which they may find life in Jesus Christ and discover their purpose and place in the greater family of God.”

Pastor Carter and the congregation of Family Harvest Church would like to invite you to join them for services on Sundays at 10am and Wednesdays at 7pm.  FHC is located at 300 W. Mulberry Street in Salem.  For those who are musically inclined, FHC is seeking talented individuals who would be interested in assisting in leading praise and worship and assisting with further development of the musical program at FHC.
