the Spirit & Power of Elijah

Family Harvest Church on Aug. 5, 2007

We are in a time of the miraculous. We are quickly nearing the end and the good news for those who are in Christ is that Jesus is coming soon! Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King! Soon and very soon, the eastern sky is going to split open and the majestic, risen King of kings and Lord of Lords is coming back on a steaming white stallion riding the wild wings of the morning, and those of us who are ready - those of us who are watching and waiting - are going to witness the blessed event we have been waiting and watching and praying for.

On that great getting’ up morning, the dead in Christ shall rise first, and we’re gonna’ see it! We’re gonna’ see it! The whole wide world will see those graves burst open, and those coffins open wide, and in that instant those of us who are in Christ, the Scripture declares... we which remain shall be caught up, caught up, caught up, in the twinkling of an eye! In an instant we will be raptured away! Gravity will lose its hold on us, and we’re going to wing our way through the sky to meet the Lord, and there - in the new Jerusalem - we shall ever be with the Lord, singing and shouting and dancing in the pavilions of Glory! Oh hallelujah!

I don’t know about you, but I can hardly wait to see those gates of pearl and walk my way down the streets of gold! I can hardly wait to taste of the crystal clear river of life and spend endless ages in the joyous celebration and worship of the Blessed Lamb of God. I can’t wait to get there! I said I can’t wait to get there! I’ve got a mansion just over the hilltop, in that bright land where we’ll never grow old. And some day yonder, we’ll never more wander – but walk on streets that are pure as gold! If you’re looking forward to your heavenly home in the sky, give the Lord a shout this morning!

We are living in a day and age when it is becoming abundantly obvious that the coming of the Lord is very near! Did you hear me this morning? The coming of the Lord is very, very near. The times and the seasons identify for us that we are again living in a time that is as it was in the days of Noah. Luke 17:26-27 -

"And as it came to pass in the days of Noah, even so shall it be also in the days

of the Son of man. They ate, they drank, they married, they were given in

marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and

destroyed them all."

We are living in wicked times. We are living in a time when the world is lost in a sea of waste. We are living in a time when humanity is sinking in the depths of sin and degradation. We are living in a time when the depravity of human spirits has never been more abundantly evident and clear.

We are living in a time, just as did Noah, when God is making preparation for the end of this age. The first time around, God destroyed the world with flood, and the next time will be by fire.

There is judgment, doom, death and damnation ahead for those who reject the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But for those who will put their faith, trust and confidence in Him, there is not doom and death and damnation on the horizon, but peace, joy, gladness, goodness and hope that points us toward the home in heaven that He has prepared for us!

We are certainly living in a season, as the Scripture declares, that we must work, for the night is quickly approaching when no man can work. We must work hard. We must work fast. We must work with all that is within us to begin to bring in a last days harvest of souls. Why? Because the end is near, and we must pull every last person that we can out of the clutches of sin and Satan.

We are living in a time when those who are called by His name must stand up and begin to declare the truth of God’s word, and call the lost to Christ.

We are living in a time when those who are truly God-called and God-anointed - I’m talking about the true citizens of the Kingdom of God - I’m talking about the true Church of Jesus Christ… must rise out of the blurs of indistinction and begin to cry aloud, as a voice in the wilderness, preparing the way of the Lord!

This is a time when the true Church of the living God must arise from its sleep and restful slumber and once again put a word from the Lord on our lips and declare to a lost and dying generation that Jesus is coming, and His coming is very, very soon! This is a season when we must arise and shine, for our light has come, and the glory of the Lord is once again arising upon us!

It is time that the true prophets of God arise! I'm not talking about your little pseudo-spiritual, charismaniac-wanna’be, "when-do-I-get-to-practice," pretending-pentecostal, self-proclaimed prophets. I'm talking about the true prophets of God! It’s time the true prophets of God arise, with a truly prophetic word in their mouth and declare the true word of the true and living God – it’s time for a return, in these last days, of the spirit of Elijah!

In these last days, the spirit of Elijah is again coming on the scene to declare the Word of the Lord into a generation on its way to hell. But just as there has always been in times past, the enemy of our soul never stands back and willingly allows a revival to take place. The enemy of our soul always sends in his opposition to the moving of the true spirit of God.

When the true prophets of God begin to take their place and command repentance and a return to Godly living, the enemy always seeks for a way in which to hinder that move…

Dr. Lester Sumrall is on record as saying that the greatest enemy of the last days church, because of the return of the prophetic anointing of Elijah just before the return of the Lord, will be the spirit of Jezebel.

Do you believe we are truly living in the last days? …Then it only stands to reason that is why we have begun to see an unholy emergence of the evil spirit of Jezebel that seeks to oppose the prophetic voices of God calling for national repentance.

In the foreword of John Paul Jackson’s book, “Unmasking the Jezebel Spirit,” Pastor Lou Engle writes the following:

“Today, there is moral combat in this nation between the spirit of Elijah and the

spirit of Jezebel. The contenders on both sides are the prophets. To the victor

goes the soul of the nation…"

What a sobering thought, that the soul of this very nation is, at this moment, up for grabs in a spiritual warfare between the Jezebelic forces of Satan and the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Pastor Engle continues, “…Jezebel’s greatest fear and archenemies are the prophets, for they expose her schemes and call the Church to repentance.”

It’s time for the Elijahs to arise! Its time that we allow the Spirit of Almighty God to come upon us once again and give the boldness and power to stare the enemy in the face, free of worry, free of doubt and free of intimidation, and declare the true and living Word of God to a generation bound for hell.

If we, the true prophets and people of God, do not withstand the enemy, God will hold us accountable for the sin and degradation of the society He has called us to influence.

We cannot be complacent. We cannot ignore the existence of the Jezebel spirit. We cannot become apathetic towards its influence in the Church. We must withstand it in the power of the Holy Ghost of God.

The wake up call is alarming and loud! God has something against the Church of America today. God has something against the Church of Indiana today. God has something against the Church of Salem today. I am sorry to report, that we have tolerated Jezebel in our midst. I speak not just to the congregation of Family Harvest Church this morning, but through the lens of that camera, I am speaking on television and radio to the Church at large.

We have tolerated Jezebel in our midst. And because we have tolerated her, America’s children, and the children of our churches are being systematically destroyed. The good news is that we have a promise from the Word of God today. 2 Chronicles 7:14 declares:

"If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray,

and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven,

and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

There’s another promise that we have as well from Joel 2:28, that in the last days, "I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,..."

Did you hear that today?! YOUR sons and daughters! That means my son and daughter shall prophesy of the coming of the Lord! That means your sons and daughters shall prophesy of the coming of the Lord!

There is returning an anointing of the spirit and power of Elijah! We are truly living in the last days! Wake up Church! Wake up young and old! Arise in the power of Almighty God to withstand the forces of the enemy in this generation! Speak the Word! Tell the truth! Spread the Gospel! ...Prepare ye the way of the Lord!

Jesus is coming soon! ...Make sure this generation knows it! □
