Hit the Lights!
Pastor Chad Carter
“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people:
but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.”
Isaiah 60:1-2, KJV
In the midst of a world getting darker by the day, there is still
a light that shines into the hopelessness of the human
experience. There is a Light that shines brighter than all the
lamps of the world combined. With luminary power that
dispels the deepest of darkness, this Light shines bright
enough to eradicate fear and doubt. Defeat and despair
don’t stand a chance against this Light, for when it shows
itself for all to see, there is no question of its power or ability
Many in the world today face insurmountable obstacles that
have kept them separated from God and groping in the
darkness. Job 5:14 says, “They meet with darkness in the
day time, and grope in the noonday as in the night.”
Is that you today? Does your heart beat feverishly in a cry for freedom? Are your hands waving around in the air, looking for the doorknob on a door you cannot seem to find? Are your palms sweating and your pulse racing? Are your eyes pained from squinting, trying to see something in a place where only darkness has prevailed? Do you feel alone, helpless, and can’t seem to find any way of escaping this doomed existence? Do you just wish someone would reach out and help?! Perhaps you’re desperate for someone just to reach in the room and flip the switch and let light flood the room, ending the reign of terror and despair over your life!
To the world…
I declare that there is good news for you today! …Someone is about to walk into the darkened room where you’ve been fumbling around in fear. Someone’s about to hit the lights! Someone’s about to flip the switch! There is hope and illumination coming once and for all. There is a Light source for your eyes to behold, and that Light source is the Lord, Jesus Christ!
I want to encourage someone today who may be wondering if God even loves them and cares about what they’re going through. You may have a future that looks bleak. The days ahead may look long and hard. There seems to be no hope for things getting any better, and they are fearful that they will never come out on top.
Psalms 27:1 says, “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
You have nothing to fear as long as you are looking to the Lord as your source of strength and light.
Psalms 36:9 in The Message says, “You're a fountain of cascading light, and you open our eyes to light.” Other translations say, “in your light we see light.”
In James 1:17-18 in The Message, we are given tremendous insight into God’s desire for blessing you with gifts from heaven:
“Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of
light cascading down from the Father of Light. There is nothing deceitful in God,
nothing two-faced, nothing fickle. He brought us to life using the true Word,
showing us off as the crown of all his creatures.”
If you will open up to the Father of Light today, there is no darkness that will be able to withstand the illumination of His presence in your life. You don’t have to be lost groping in the darkness any longer! There is a light that is shining in the darkest moment of your midnight experience!
Jesus said in John 8:12 in the NIV, Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
It reads like this in The Message Bible, “I am the world's Light. No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in.”
Are you ready to flip the switch and hit the lights? Are you ready to actually see where your life is heading and make the necessary adjustments to get where you need to be?
Jesus promised that if you would follow Him, your days of stumbling around in the darkness are over! If you will give your old life completely over to Father of Light, He will give you a new life in exchange. It will be a life filled with brightness, hope and victory.
Isaiah 60:1 in the Amplified Bible says, “ARISE from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you--rise to a new life! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!”
The light of God upon your life is going to get brighter and brighter as you look to Him. Turn toward the Father today and let Him hit the lights in your life.
To the Church…
…I declare it is time for mobilization!
Once again, Isaiah 60:1 gives a charge: “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee” (KJV).
Get up, Church! Stand at attention! The glorious light of Jesus Christ has risen upon you and you have work to do.
The prophet Isaiah did not say, “Arise, for your light has come.” He said there was something more you had to do after you arose. He said you had to shine! “Arise, SHINE; for your light has come!”
The Light that we have been graced to behold was not given that we may simply keep it to ourselves. We who possess knowledge that can bring spiritual freedom also have the responsibility of sharing it. We cannot be so introverted that we neglect to share the remedy for the sin-sickness that exists around us. To possess such valuable, life-saving enlightenment and refuse to share it would not show the love of Christ that He died to prove.
You’ve been given His Name and Authority. You’ve been given a very powerful set of keys. Stick one of them in that locked door that has someone trapped in darkness behind it. Share His grace and mercy! Show some compassion! Reach in the darkness and hit the lights.
