Sealed As Superior
  Pastor Chad Carter

“For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve
this victory through our faith.  And who can win this battle
against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the
    Son of God.”
1 John 5:4-5, NLT

I wonder sometimes if the devil ever stands in front of his
mirror and sees that big “L” stamped across his forehead.
He is a “Loser” in the first degree and he seems to have no
    clue about it.

I believe there is nothing but victory on top of victory for the
Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.  We serve a God who has already promised the victory for those who stand in unity with Him and will carry his plan of redemption into the world.

Did you know that God has sealed you as superior to your enemy?  God has predestined that those who are called by His name will come out on top of this thing, standing over the carcass of their defeated enemy!

When you’re in the midst of the fray and you’re fighting with every ounce of energy you can muster, it sometimes seems that the fight will never come to a close.  When the fight’s on, it’s fierce.  Dirt is flying, swords are swinging and dust clouds the air so densely you can hardly see your hand in front of your face.  The horrifying sounds of the fight ring in your ears – screams, cries and the gurgling rattle of death is all around you.

Sometimes it’s hard to tell who it is that’s got the upper hand.  All you can do is pray it’s you and keep swinging your sword.

When you’re in the middle of the toughest fights of your life, it’s next to impossible to judge how much longer you’re going to have to stay there in the middle of it all.  You find yourself realizing how long you’ve actually been in the fight and wonder if it’s going to take just as long to come out of it.  You ask yourself, “how much longer do I have to fight?”

Friends, let me remind you again that God has sealed you as superior to your enemy.  The battle lines have been drawn.  God has already charted the map and claimed his territory.  With every step you take you, are actually bringing His claim into existence (Joshua 1:3).  He has planned a strategy and recorded it in His Book.  He has already determined the outcome of the fight long before you were ever pulled into it, and He is counting on you to follow through.

There is a day of deliverance dawning on the horizon!  You are one day closer to victory today than you were yesterday.  You simply cannot afford to throw in the towel and quit just yet!  What if God’s appointed time for your deliverance is just a few days off?  What if His time for deliverance is scheduled for 24-hours from now?!  How sad it would be for you to give up just before the moment of victory!

Your enemy hates your God, and he hates you just because you are loved by God.  If he is permitted to succeed in stealing ground, you may never see the promises of God come to fruition in your life.  If he succeeds in his struggle against you, you might never see your family redeemed and in right standing with God.  If the enemy succeeds at his plan, he will steal, kill and destroy everything that is valuable to you and those you love (John 10:10).

But if you hold your ground and refuse to fall back, the tide will begin to turn!  If you hold your ground and remain faithful, you will experience the joy of seeing the enemy turn his back to your face and retreat in defeat.  If you will endure to the end, you will be saved (Matthew 10:22)!  You will come out on top with the sweet taste of victory.

Your arms that have been lifted in battle will no longer feel heavy and weighted down by sorrow and care, but will feel light as a feather as you lift them in praise to the Mighty God who has proven Himself to be your shield and buckler (Psalm 91:4).

Of course, we can’t deny the fierceness of the fight, but we simply have to acknowledge that in the midst of it, we have a help and strength that is no match for our enemy.

It may be dark and dusty.  It may be brutal and bloody.  It may feel like your whole life has been spent on the front lines.  But there will come a time when you are standing on the other side of the battle looking over your shoulder into the memory of its existence.  There will come a time when you are able to smile and remember the day God brought you out.  Oh, what a joy!  Oh, happy day!

Tears that had been shed in sorrow will now be shed in joy and thanksgiving to the omnipotent Lord who brought you into the battle for the simple reason of bringing you out again.

What a thought, that the God of heaven and earth would give His frail human creation supernatural victory over angelic enemies for no other reason than to prove His omnipotence again and again.

What a thought, that the God of heaven and earth so valued His reputation as GOD that he sealed us as superior to the angelic superpowers who fell from grace.

What a thought, that God would place within these earthen vessels the excellency of His power that may be demonstrated to all (2 Corinthians 4:7).

God has sealed us as superior to the enemy for no other reason than to prove His greatness in our lives and to testify to others that He can be great in their lives, too.

“If you only look at us, you might well miss the brightness. We carry this precious
Message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives.  That's to prevent
anyone from confusing God's incomparable power with us.  As it is, there's not much
chance of that. You know for yourselves that we're not much to look at.  We've been
surrounded and battered by troubles, but we're not demoralized; we're not sure
what to do, but we know that God knows what to do; we've been spiritually
terrorized, but God hasn't left our side!”
2 Corinthians 4:7-9, MSG

The next time the enemy comes at you, just hold up a mirror in his face.  Show him the “L” sign.  Remind him that he’s a Loser, and that God has sealed you as superior to any attack he may attempt to bring against you.  God plans to get glory out of your life!  You have been scheduled for nothing but victory! 
