"Behold the Star" Candlelight Christmas Eve Service
December 24, 2006

What a glorious celebration of the birth of the Savior that Pastor Chad Carter and the congregation of Family Harvest Church enjoyed together!  The sanctuary was filled with people whose hearts were prepared to worship the Lord.

The service opened with Elders Darryl & Eunice Madden
welcoming the congregation to this special service.
Brother Madden read the Christmas Story from Luke
Chapter 2, and Sister Madden exhorted the congregation
to believe God for the unexpected and impossible.

Deacon Shane Hawkins lead the congregation in "How
Great Is Our God," "How Great Thou Art" and "Emanuel,
God With Us."  As the congregation lifted up their hands
and voices in praise and worship, a wonderful presence
of the Lord was felt.  It was truly a moment in which we
could feel the Spirit of Emanuel, and knew that God was
with us.

Pastor Chad Carter greeted the congregation and
welcomed all those who were visiting with us.  We were
proud to have so many visitors with us for this service. Pastor Carter commented how wonderful it would be to have all our visitors with us for regular services, and encouraged their continued attendance and membership in Family Harvest Church.

Next, Pastor Carter introduced the Family Harvest Kids Choir for the very first time, and they had the congregation on their feet with Kelsie Carter leading "Go Tell It On the Mountain."   Then they led the congregation in traditional Christmas carols, like "Away In A Manger," "Silent Night, Holy Night," "Joy To The World" and "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing."

Following the delightful
performance by the FHC
Kids Choir, Pastor Carter
made a very special
presentation to the
C.A.R.E. Pregnancy Center
of Salem.  The C.A.R.E.
Pregnancy Center blesses
pregnant teens, unwed
mothers and mothers in
general with planning for
their pregnancies.  They
encourage expectant
mothers to give birth, love
and care for their babies
instead of aborting them.

Their ministry stresses
Christian principles of love,
godliness and parenting
from the perspective of
God's Word.  They are a
wonderful outreach that ministers in a practical manner to a segment of the population that often goes without care or concern.  FHC was proud to adopt them as our Christmas Missions Drive for the 2006 season.  With the help of all our wonderful congregants who contributed, FHC was able to provide the following for the 2006 C.A.R.E. Christmas Missions Drive:

  • More than 300 diapers
  • More than 30 pairs of socks
  • Pacifiers
  • Receiving blankets
  • Baby wipes
  • Lotions, shampoos, powders, etc
  • a variety of assorted stuffed animals
  • Baby beds
  • Baby cribs
  • Baby toys
  • and so much more!

Following the presentation to
C.A.R.E., Pastor Carter brought
forth the Word concerning God's
biblical laws of sowing and
reaping.  Deuteronomy chapters
8, 14, 24, 26 and Luke chapter 6
were the subject of his teaching
concerning our command to bless the stranger, the fatherless and the widow within our midst.  Pastor Carter paralleled his teaching to the reason FHC gives to the C.A.R.E. Pregnancy Center, as well as FHC's plans to open the Family Harvest Food Bank & Community Clothing Center in early 2007.  The congregation responded in a wonderful way that will enable FHC to continue its outreaches to the lost and hurting.  Pastor Carter wishes to thank each and every one who sacrificially gave toward the outreach efforts of Family Harvest Church, and is believing that the principles of the Word of God will be realized in the lives of those who chose to follow the Lord in the biblical laws of financial prosperity, sowing and reaping.

As the offering was being
received, the FHC Kids
Choir blessed the congre-
gation again with fantastic
performances of "Jesus,
Oh What A Wonderful Child,"
"Wonderful Counselor" and
"Rise Up, Shepherd, And
Follow."

Pastor Carter then brought an anointed message,
"Behold the Star," with Jesus Christ, the Bright Morning
Star as the theme of the service.  He preached this
stirring message from Luke chapter 2, Matthew chapter
2, and from:

Matthew 4:23-24 -
23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching
the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner
of disease among the people.
24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick
people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which
were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that
had the palsy; and he healed them.

...and Revelation 22:16 -
16  "I, Jesus, sent my Angel to testify to these things for the churches. I'm the
Root and Branch of David, the Bright Morning Star."

At the conclusion of the message, Pastor Carter made invitation for those that needed to know Christ as their Savior and Lord.  Twelve (12) people responded to the salvation invitation, and Pastor Carter was privileged to lead them in prayer.

As everyone rejoiced over those that had received eternal life through Jesus, the preliminary attendance report was given.  We thank the Lord for the 100+ people who joined us for service on this Christmas Eve morning!

Elder Eunice Madden then
addressed the congregation
concerning their love and
admiration for Pastor Chad
& Sarah Carter and their
family.  She asked them all
to come to the platform and
commented on how proud
the congregation was to have
a man of God such as he
leading them to greater things
for the Kingdom of God.  She
presented to them a card
signed by many in the
congregation, as well as
a love offering that had
been received for them.
The Kids Choir then
came to the platform
carrying a large turkey
for the Carter Family.

Pastor and Sister Sarah
thanked the congre-
gation for their sacrifice
and service, and
honored them for their faithfulness in the fight over the course of 2006.  He saluted them as an army that had been faithful to follow him as he followed Christ in the necessary changes, improvements and advancements that had been made for the Kingdom of God.  He commented on the success they have enjoyed as a congregation who was willing to bury a ministry that was dead and unfruitful and give birth to Family Harvest Church.  He encouraged them to stay the course as Family Harvest continues to flourish and thrive, for the best is yet to come!

The Family Harvest Kids Choir then blessed us with the theme song, "Behold the Star."  Pastor and Sister Sarah joined the Kids Choir in wishing the congregation a blessed and very merry Christmas, and the service closed with the congregation singing "O Come All Ye Faithful."

What a wonderful Christmas service we
enjoyed together in the presence of the
Lord.  We are so thankful to the Lord for
His blessing and favor that has been
shown upon us in imeasurable ways.

Pastor Carter would like to thank the
Elders, Deacons, Lay Leaders and
members of Family Harvest Church
for the great success of this year's
Christmas service.  To God be the
glory for the things He has done!
