Protesters Mock Pastor Carter
& the Love of God at FHC!
...Again!

February 18, 2007

This wonderful morning of the
celebration of God’s love started out with
a bang!  For the second time, anti-
Christian protesters arrived on the curb
of Family Harvest Church to protest the
true, biblical message of the love of God
as preached by Pastor Chad Carter.

They were more in number for this visit
than they were on their first visit, and
performed their antagonistic rants and
raves that they are known for.  They
claimed, “You have the devil’s music”
and “you have that music from Africa;
you should have a bowl in your lip and
a bone in your nose.”  We apologize to
our protesters for not understanding their
racist logic in believing that Sister Shirley
Caesar singing “Heaven, I’m Going
There” was the devil’s music.  That was
news to us… and to the rest of the
Christian world.

The protesters held up their usual  signs that displayed such ridiculous and unbiblical claims as:  “God Hates Fags,” “God Hates,” “This city loves lying preachers,” and the same sign they had last time with Pastor Carter’s picture on it surrounded by the words, “Fag” and “Pimp.”

This time however, they went out of their way to make new signs especially for the occasion of Pastor Carter’s “God Loves Everybody” service.  Their newest signs contained more pictures of Pastor Carter and read things such as, “Chad Carter The God Hater,” “Love of God Conditional” and “God Doesn’t Love Everybody” in retaliation against this special service.

Other signs read, “Real Christians Rebuke Sin” (which proves that, obviously, they’ve never heard Pastor Carter preach), “God is not the author of confusion – tongues” (in protest to the fact that Pastor Carter is a Pentecostal who embraces the Gifts of the Holy Spirit).  Unbelievably, one sign even had a photocopied picture of Pastor Carter, on which the protesters took a marker and wrote "666" on Pastor Carter's forehead.

Another sign read “...Is Chad Carter an
elder novice, or is Chad Carter a novice
Elder?”  This sign further demonstrated
the protester’s unfamiliarity and
ignorance of our Pastor’s wisdom and
anointing, and questions his youth-
fulness and experience.  Pastor Carter
acknowledges the same admonition the
Apostle Paul gave to a young New
Testament pastor named Timothy, and
will let no man despise his youth.  Pastor
Carter is a young man on the move for
God, and his youth is an obvious
advantage.  Perhaps it is jealousy of his
youth that motivates the ringleader of the
protesters, an aging man, to make an
issue of such.

If it's true that wisdom comes with age,
then this case finds the tables turned, for
experience and wisdom certainly seem
to speak in our Pastor's favor.  He is
anointed, experienced, and educated in
the Word, and a novice he is not.

More of the signs they held were actually
self-contradictory and were wonderful,
eye-opening examples of the theological
errors of this protest group.  One of their
signs read, “God’s Word is True.”  Yes,
this is absolutely correct, and leaves one
wondering why, then, if they believe the
Word of God to be true, do they deny the
biblical truth that “God is Love” (1 John
4:8 and 1 John 4:16)?

Other self-contradictory signs that
exposed the protester’s ignorance read,
“Truth is Hate to Those Who Hate
Truth” and “God Hates Lying Lips.”
Again one would have to ask the
question, who is teaching the message
of hatred?  Who is holding up signs that
promote hatred in the name of God?
Pastor Carter preaches the biblically
accurate message of the love of God,
while the protesters are the one’s holding up signs declaring the unbiblical position that “God Hates…” and “God DOESN’T Love Everybody.”

Their signs just don’t even make sense.  Their signs demonstrate their ignorance and incapacity to reason and discern the Word of God.  Unfortunately, they have deceived themselves.  They have swallowed a lie which they now spew as truth.  May the Lord help them to see the error of their ways and repent of their sins before it is too late.

One protester held up a sign that had a picture of a roll of toilet tissue and the words "Chad’s Mantle” pointing to it, and yelled, “Bring Rod Parsley out here, we’ll take him on, too.”  This was a jab at the ministerial association Pastor Carter has with his pastor, Rod
Parsley of the 12,000-member World Harvest Church in Columbus, Ohio.  What they don’t realize is that Pastor Carter paid them a courtesy by even coming out to acknowledge their presence.  Pastor Parsley would have ignored the fact that they even showed up.

As the crowd of protesters continued ranting
and raving and as police squad cars arrived on
the scene, Pastor Chad Carter walked out into
the open in front of those who heckled and
protested against him and began to pray.
Pastor Carter had the
church’s public add-
ress system extend-
ed through speakers
outside, so that his
prayer could be heard
over the bull horns
and screams from
the protesters.  Many
members of the
congregation of
Family Harvest
Church stood behind
their pastor and ex-
tended their hands
toward the protesters,
praying in the Holy
Ghost.

Pastor Carter took authority over
principalities and powers, and
rebuked the devil’s operation
through these misguided
protesters.  He rebuked their
damage to the cause of Christ in this community by declaring a false gospel of hatred in the name of a God who came to seek and save the lost. He prayed that they would receive the love of Christ in their hearts and become born again and filled with the Holy Spirit.  He prayed that they would see the truth for what it is, and that their hardened hearts of bitterness and hatred would be turned into a heart of warmth and love for the sinner that Christ came to save.

With shouts of “amen” and handclaps of praise to God, Pastor Carter turned and walked inside without further acknowledgement of the protesters.

Inside, the music began as Deacon Shane Hawkins opened the service with praise and worship and the congregation joined in singing “His Love Endures Forever” and “I Am Free!”

Immediately after that, the FHC Youth Choir came bounding onto the platform to continue the high-energy celebration of the love of God with “Did You Feel the Mountains Tremble” and “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever.”

Elder Greg Bekes came and greeted the congregation, welcomed our visitors and read a letter from Bishop W. Wayne Pugh, the Senior Pastor of Church Alive of Atlanta, Georgia, www.ChurchAliveAtlanta.com, who joined with us for this “God Loves Everybody Sunday.”  This was a “first-ever” for Family Harvest Church, in that we were celebrating ONE service, in TWO cities!

A portion of Bishop Pugh’s letter to Family Harvest reads as follows:

To my good friend Pastor Chad Carter and the wonderful congregation of Family
Harvest Church in Salem, Indiana, we greet you in the Name of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ.

We are so excited today to join with you in this great Celebration of God Loves
Everybody Sunday. We live in a world filled with hatred, racism and prejudice.  The
scriptures are truly being fulfilled daily as we see brother rise up against brother and
entire families and nations torn apart because of hatred. ...

We celebrate with you today the courage and faith of your uncompromising Leader,
Shepherd and Senior Pastor. I truly believe that God has sent Pastor Chad Carter not
only to Family Harvest Church, but to Shepherd and Pastor the breadth and length of
Salem and the surrounding areas. God has raised up this young man as a
mouthpiece of His Divine Word and He will bring blessings and honor to your city and
state. We acknowledge the Prophetic Mantle that is upon the Angel of the House and
we are confident that Salem, Indiana is blessed because Pastor Chad Carter and
Family Harvest Church is in it!

We are praying with you and celebrating with you today here at Church Alive of Atlanta
and we believe God for a Supernatural Harvest of Souls there today.  God bless you is
my prayer and know that we are standing with you on this God Loves Everybody
Sunday.

Because of Jesus,

Bishop W. Wayne Pugh

The congregation of Family Harvest Church expressed their thanks and appreciation to Bishop Pugh and Church Alive of Atlanta for joining with us by offering a round of applause for the reading of the letter.  Elder Bekes then introduced Pastor Carter to the platform.

Pastor Chad Carter was welcomed to the pulpit by an exuberant congregation who were proud to have a leader that was willing to stare opposition in the face and stand for the truth of God’s Word.

Pastor Carter addressed the congregation and thanked the Elders, Deacons, Lay Leadership and congregation of Family Harvest Church for their love and support in such times and in the bringing about of this special “God Loves Everybody Sunday.”

Deacons Shane & Lisa Hawkins were brought forward and recognized by Pastor Carter as having served faithfully as leaders in FHC since their ordination, and explained to the congregation how proud of them he was.  Pastor Carter addressed the need for the Youth and Children’s Ministries to rise to the next level and come in line with his vision for ministry that will spring forth from this place.  Pastor Carter announced, to the joy and applause of the congregation, that Deacons Shane & Lisa Hawkins had accepted his invitation to serve as the new Directors of Youth & Children’s Ministries at Family Harvest Church.  This was, and is, an exciting time for the congregation, especially for the young people who are excited to see what’s just around the corner!

The offering was received, and the FHC Youth Choir blessed us with another selection, “His Love Endures Forever.” What a fine job this group of young people are doing!

Pastor Carter then opened the pages of the Word of God and preached a landmark message on the love of God, called “Condemnation, Conviction and Conversion.”  He walked the congregation through the pages of the Word of God to answer three very important questions:  1) WHAT is Love?  2) WHO is Love?  and 3) WHY must the Christian Love?

He brought out the difference between the biblical truth of the love of God and the false gospel proclaimed by the protesters outside.  He exposed their message as nothing more than a “gospel of condemnation, void of the important element of redemption.”  He preached that, “a message of condemnation alone, void of the hope of redemption, prevents the Holy Spirit from adding the important equation of conviction, without which conversion will be impossible.  If the conversion of the lost is not achieved, for what purpose does our preaching serve?  If all we do is alienate the lost from our message of salvation in Christ by telling them they are hated by God, we have willfully rebelled against the Great Commission of our Lord and will be found guilty as charged on the day of judgment of driving people away from the Savior we were commanded to bring people to.”

In his message, Pastor Carter incorporated the story of the woman caught in the act of adultery being released from condemnation by having met Jesus.  He also used the woman at the well as an example of one who’s sin was exposed, condemnation was loosed, conviction activated and conversion took place, all because Jesus didn’t look at her and say he hated her…  He loved her and offered her a drink of living water from which she would never thirst again.

Pastor Carter read portions of 1 John 4 from The Message Bible, and proved, without a doubt, that the message proclaimed by those who say God hates sinners is absolutely wrong and is a gross misrepresentation of the Kingdom of God to those who might have been future converts.  A portion of the Scripture from 1 John 4 in The Message Bible, reads:

Anyone who knows God understands …and listens. The person who has nothing to
do with God will, of course, not listen... This is another test for telling the Spirit of
Truth from the spirit of deception.

My beloved friends, let us continue to love…since love comes from God. Everyone
who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who
refuses to love doesn't know the first thing about God, because God is love—so
you can't know him if you don't love. This is how God showed his love for us: God
sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. This is the kind of love
we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us
and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they've done to
our relationship with God.

My dear, dear friends, if God loved us like this, we certainly ought to love each other.
No one has seen God, ever. But if we love one another, God dwells deeply within us,
and his love becomes complete in us—perfect love!

God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God
and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and
mature in us, so that we're free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is
identical with Christ's. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes
fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not
yet fully formed in love.

We, though, are going to love—love and be loved. First we were loved, now we
love.  He loved us first.

If anyone boasts, "I love God," and goes right on hating his brother or sister,
thinking nothing of it, he is a liar.  If he won't love the person he can see, how can
he love the God he can't see?  The command we have from Christ is blunt: Loving
God includes loving people.  You've got to love both.

Pastor Carter then said this:

“My answer to those who seek to teach and preach and protest with a message only of
wrath and judgment?  …Your message is only a partial truth.  And a partial truth, I’m
here to tell you today, is a complete lie. … If you try to attempt to speak for God and
you’re only telling half the truth, you’re telling a full lie.

“My message to them, if they were still here today?  …Your message is very heavy on
condemnation, but it’s devoid of the love of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, and
devoid of the power of the Holy Spirit there can be no conviction, and if there is no
conviction there can be no conversion, and if you have no genuine conversion to
testify to the validity of your message, then your message, Mr. Lewis, is one-hundred
percent WRONG.

“Their message reeks of the ingredient of condemnation.  But what they forget to tell
people is the truth of Romans 8:1 – ‘There is therefore now no condemnation to those
which are in Christ Jesus.’  …There’s nothing wrong with shining the glorious light of
the Gospel of Jesus Christ into the darkness, wherever sin exists. But if you leave the
message there and don’t tell them… ‘there is a way of escape,’ you’re only telling a
half truth.  You’re shortchanging the people that Christ came Himself to save, and
you’re doing an injustice to the message of the Gospel of Christ.”

It is a terrible thing for one to reject the Lord and wind up in Hell, but it’s far worse to claim you are the representative of God and drive people to Hell all the quicker simply because you tell them God hates them and ignore that Christ came to seek out, and SAVE, the lost.  May God have mercy on the souls of those who are deceived and propagate such an erring message.  May they see the light of Christ, become born again, and stop their intentional damage to the cause of Jesus Christ and the efforts of His true Kingdom-representatives.

When Pastor Carter finished preaching, he gave a salvation invitation, and 4 people accepted Jesus as their Savior and Lord.  We thank God for His love and the convicting power of the Holy Spirit that drew the lost to the cross of Christ and made a difference in their lives that will last an eternity!

The FHC Youth Choir came once again to bless the congregation with a closing musical selection, “Let Everything That Has Breath Praise the Lord.”

Elder Darryl Madden closed out the service with prayer and the congregation enjoyed a wonderful dinner in the fellowship hall.  During the dinner following service, another person came to Pastor Carter and asked him to lead them in the sinner’s prayer as well!  It is such a joy to know that lives are being changed and souls are being added to the Kingdom as a result of our efforts for the Lord!

What a wonderful time we enjoyed together making such a successful and tremendous difference for the Kingdom of God!  May JESUS CHRIST be glorified by anything we may have accomplished for Him!
