Southern Gospel Concert with The Smiths
April 29, 2007
Pastor Chad & Sarah Carter
and the congregation of Family
Harvest Church enjoyed a
fantastic southern Gospel
Concert on Sunday morning,
April 29. The Smiths, of
Indianapolis, were the guests
of honor for this wonderful
event.
Deacon Shane Hawkins
welcomed the congregation
and led in a time of praise and
worship.
Pastor Chad Carter then
greeted the congregation and
welcomed all the visitors that
had come out to participate in
the festivities. There were many first-time visitors present for this service, and all were enthusiastically welcomed to Family Harvest Church. Pastor Carter said, "when you came in, you were a visitor. When you leave, you are family." It is our prayer and desire that all those visiting with us will just consider themselves part of Family Harvest Church and return to enjoy the move of the Spirit taking place from this place.
Pastor Carter shared from Scripture, received the morning's tithes and offerings, and blessed the congregation with the song, "Through the Fire."
Following the offering time, Pastor Carter introduced, for the very first time at Family Harvest Church, The Smiths of Indianapolis. They were welcomed with a warm round of applause and jumped right in blessing the congregation in song.
Brother Alan and Sister Debbie Smith, and Brother Dwayne Smith, flowed in the anointing of the Holy Ghost and tore the place loose! The congregation were quickly on their feet clapping their hands and shouting "amens" and "hallelujahs."
There was a strong, overwhelming presence of God and a wonderful liberty in the Holy Ghost that found our guests, and the congregation, joining together in shouts of praise and jubilation! Spirits were freed, feet were loosed, and several found themselves dancing in their seats in celebration and freedom.
Following the wonderful ministry in music, Brother Alan Smith shared his testimony with Family Harvest Church. He shared how the Lord had raised him up from a death-bed, literally.
After a major heart attack that began as he stood in the pulpit, Brother Alan slumped over in the seat of the car while his wife rushed him toward the hospital. They didn't make it in time. In the parking lot of a convenience store with rain pouring down, Brother Alan was pulled from the backseat of a car and laid on the concrete as paramedics were en' route.
Those present at the scene performed CPR on him, but to no avail. After 16 minutes of laying lifeless on the concrete in the pouring rain, the paramedics finally arrived. Finding no pulse, they used a defibrillator on him several times and pronounced him officially dead. They placed a sheet over his face and said he was gone.
His wife, Sister Debbie, cried out to the Lord, and then to the paramedics she said, "don't give up on him yet!" Something in her voice caused the paramedics to pull the sheet back and try once more. They defibrillated him once again. This time, however, a miracle began. This time, they got a pulse!
They placed Brother Alan in the ambulance and began the rush to the hospital. As the ambulance arrived at the hospital's Emergency Room, he died a second time. They began the defibrillation process yet again. Finally, another pulse was detected.
The doctors said Brother Alan wouldn't make it through the night. But when the family came in, they went to praying. Sister Debbie placed the Bible on his chest, opened to Isaiah 53, as the family gathered in the prayer chapel to pray. They filled the hospital chapel to overflowing, and the Holy Ghost began to fall. The family lifted up their voices, praying in tongues and shouting as the presence of the Lord descended upon them. The hospital staff was frantic with the "sound of Pentecost" taking place in the prayer chapel. A nurse came in and told the family to keep the noise down. They quieted down just long enough for the door to close, and went to prayer again!
Needless to say, Brother Alan pulled through the first night. The doctor's said it was a miracle he made it though the first night, and surely wouldn't make it through the second. But he did. They said he might have permanent brain damage and might not wake up. But he did. They said his kidneys were shut down and he would be on dialysis the rest of his life. But God continued to perform miracle after miracle, and today, eight years later, he gave his testimony of being 100% healed.
Brother Alan shared that the miracles God performed in his body were so great that his doctor, a Jewish man, claimed his faith in God had been renewed by Brother Alan's testimony and witness. He was asked to address the doctor's hospital staff concerning his faith in God and told them of the power of God at work in his life.
What a mighty testimony of the miraculous power of God!
After sharing his testimony, Brother Alan turned the service back over to Pastor Carter, who gave a salvation invitation for those who needed to know this God of miracles. Six people acknowledged their need for the Lord, and prayed the prayer of repentance to receive Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
Elder Darryl Madden closed the service in prayer, and the congregation enjoyed a wonderful dinner in the fellowship hall. The ladies of FHC coordinated and served this dinner. There was standing room only in the fellowship hall as people fellowshipped and enjoyed this time together with their church family.
We thank the Lord for an attendance of 83, and 6 saved, in this wonderful Sunday morning celebration! □
