Pastor Carter addresses Washington County at
the National Day of Prayer - May 3, 2007
Thursday, May 3 marked the 2007
National Day of Prayer across the United
States of America.
Communities, states, regions and the
entire nation took the time from their
schedules to seek the face of God for the
future of our country and our local
communities.
In Washington County, an entire day's
worth of festivities were prepared for the
believers of our community to participate
in.
Brother Mike Ray (pictured at right)
coordinated the events for Washington
County, which started with an All-County
Prayer Breakfast held at the Wonder
Valley Christian Camp in Salem, Indiana.
There were many dignitaries and pastors
present for this wonderful breakfast.
Some spoke and exhorted, while others
offered prayers on behalf of our commun-
ity.
Pastor Chad Carter, of Family Harvest
Church, was asked to bring the message
for the morning. He preached from the
Book of Daniel, chapters six and nine,
concerning the importance of prayer in
the face of opposition and adversity.
He shared from his heart, challenging the
pastors and church leaders present to
rise to the challenge of invoking change
in the church, which has become lazy
and lacksidazical in many areas of
importance, but especially in regards to
prayer.
He challened each one to stand up and
say, "I will be the one who prays!" He
stressed that as each of us stand up to
be "the one" who prays, then we will find
ourselves standing in unity "as one" with
power and authorty to cause our nation to
return to God.
He stressed how Daniel repented for the
sins of his people, though he was a right-
eous man in the eyes of God. But as he
humbled himself and prayed on behalf of
the nation of Israel, an angel came to tell
the good news that before Daniel could
finish his prayer, an answer had been
dispatched from heaven.
Pastor Carter shared from 2 Chronicles
7:14 - "If my people, which are called by
my name, shall humble themselves, and
pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." From this verse, he taught that "repentance is key" to the spiritual success and future of this nation. Without repentance, there will be no redemption. Without repentance, there will be no forgiveness. Without repentance, there will be no mercy. Without repentance, there will be no healing in our land.
Pastor Carter once again challenged all those present to rise to the challenge of turning the tide of society and being an active participant in bringing revival to this generation. His message of passion and hope was well received by those present.
Pastor Carter: "It is my prayer that my words have helped to provoke us to good works. I pray we will spend time on our knees like never before. I pray that we will come to the understanding that we are the agents of change in the society into which Christ has infused us, and that we will no longer be content to leave things the way they are, but will take the heart of the Gospel as a matter of great importance and win the lost."
Following the breakfast, pastors and church leaders, elected officials and citizens in general, met at City Hall to offer unified prayer on behalf of our community. Pastor Carter was privileged to be a participant in offering prayer at this gathering as well.
Please have a look at the Photograph Page to see a brief pictoral tour of the day's events, featuring many of our community's pastors and leaders who joined together in a unified voice of prayer. □
