Special Service: "Servitude in the Body of Christ"
with Minister John & Dianne Robinson
Sunday, May 27, 2007
Minister John & Dianne
Robinson are wonderful
people of God who have
been such a blessing to
FHC in the few short weeks
we have known them.
Pastor Carter and Sister
Sarah consider them great
friends and have welcomed
them as members of the
extended family of FHC.
On Sunday, May 27, 2007,
Pastor Chad & Sarah
Carter welcomed the Robinsons back to Family
Harvest Church to bless us in song and the
ministry of God's Word. Brother Robinson's
enthusiastic, vibrant and anointed musical
abilities are such a blessing to the congregation.
He always takes us into the presence of God,
causing us to forget where we are and
concentrate on our time with the Lord.
We were also overjoyed to have Brother Ray and
Sister Trish Ammons with us again for this
service. They are such a blessing, and brought
us a tremendous Word during our Revival in May.
Pastor Carter invited Brother Ammons to say a
few words. When he came to the pulpit, he gave
a word that the Lord had given him concerning
moving mountains. "This Pastor is trying to get
you to move your mountains and cast them into
the sea. But you can't move the mountain into the
sea until you learn to cast your religious dunghill
into the creek."
Brother Ammons expounded on this and the Holy
Ghost began to fall... Before long, people were
on their feet praising the Lord and rejoicing, as
Pastor Carter made a couple of laps around the
sanctuary.
Then Brother Ammons gave a word concerning
the prophetic significance of standing in the stair-
well, verses standing in the hallway. What a
dynamic revelation this was. Time and space will
not permit us to expound upon it here (but you
can hear the revelation of it on the DVD available
below).
Pastor Carter then ministered for a few moments
concerning the need for spreading the Gospel,
not just to the ends of the earth, but to the world in
your own backyard. He taught concerning how it
is our responsibility to help our family, friends and
communities withstand the attack of the enemy
that seeks to steal, kill and destroy.
He ministered concerning being the good man of
the house (Matthew 24) that stood watch for the
enemy that seeks to break in and plunder our
homes and families. He taught for a few minutes
on the Scriptural importance of "watching" and
how it is not a passive term, but an indication of
involvement and action.
Pastor Carter relayed, from The Message Bible,
that if the good man of the house had realized the
thief was trying to invade, he would have been
prepared, with his dogs by his side, to fend off the
invasion of the enemy. Pastor Carter used that
text to ask the question, "Who let the dogs out?
...Holy Ghost let the dogs out, that's who!" He
encouraged us to be sober, alert and vigilant to
actively "watch" and be on guard against the
enemy, and, "...if he does try to get in, sick your
Holy Ghost dogs on him to fight him off!"
Pastor Carter encouraged the congregation to be
alert and awake; ready to withstand the enemy
from attacking our families. He challenged us to
win them to Christ, and said if we can't get
through to him, let him try. He challenged us to
get our families in Church to hear the good news
of the Gospel. He challenged us to be the good
man of the house who was "watching," or being
on guard, to rescue our families from spiritual
death.
He received the offering to assist Family Harvest Church in its continued efforts of evangelism, and to help offset the cost of air time for the "Catch the Fire" television and radio broadcast. Pastor Carter also distributed a free CD of his message, "No Sloppy Living For Me," as well as thousands of invitations to church for the congregation to distribute into the public. It is our desire to reach out and see God's Kingdom enlarged, and we are taking our part in that plan very seriously.
Next, Pastor Carter welcomed Minister John & Dianne Robinson to the platform. They were welcomed with much love and appreciation for their friendship and ministry to the congregation of Family Harvest Church.
Sister Robinson introduced their first pastor to the congregation, Brother Wayne Stouffer, and invited him to share a few words. Brother Stouffer spent a few minutes giving wonderful encouragement to FHC concerning our efforts to build and grow for the Kingdom of God. His words were tempered with much love and wisdom. He has started four churches in the last several years, the latest of which is overseas. He continues to serve as the overseer of these churches, and offered much encouragement and wisdom from his years of experience. It was wonderful to meet he and his wife, and Pastor Carter welcomed them to return to Family Harvest Church as often as they can.
Brother Robinson then blessed the congregation in song before he opened the pages of the Word of God for a wonderful time of instruction called, "Servitude in the Body of Christ."
He and Sister Robinson brought wonderful teaching concerning the importance and necessity of the "ministry of helps" in a local church. They stressed how an adequate ministry of helps must be in operation in a local church if it is to survive and effectively build for the glory of God.
They gave practical instruction as to how a congregation is to respect and provide for the ministry gift (the pastor) that God has placed within their midst. They stressed that some never learn to appreciate what they have until it's gone. Their teaching, if applied, would help to make sure that wouldn't happen.
Brother and Sister Robinson talked about the simple acts of servitude, being an attentive and responsive armor bearer, and how sonship leads to fatherhood in the faith.
A lot of people think God has called them to tremendous personal ministries (and perhaps He has), but they will never reach the reality of that calling coming to fruition until they have learned to serve as a son or daughter. Pastor Carter often says, "I stand before you as a man of authority, because I know what it means to be a man under authority. ...I know what it means to serve."
Brother and Sister Robinson challenged the congregation to take a step to higher servitude in the Body of Christ by first being a faithful servant in the local body of Family Harvest Church. They called all those committed to this step to come forward for a prayer, and asked Pastor Carter to oversee the prayer.
Pastor Carter led the congregation in prayer and laid hands on those who came forward. There was a wonderful time of altar ministry that took place as many had come to light of the deeper calling they had received to serve.
Following the conclusion of the service, the congregation enjoyed a wonderful church dinner in the fellowship hall. We were delighted to host all of our guests for this wonderful dinner.
Pastor Carter feels the topics addressed in this service would be beneficial to any body of believers, and encourages you to order the DVD's of this service. □
